The New Year and the “belum” philosophy

(Qui in italiano). Let’s be clear: End of Year review sucks. Most of all others’ reviews. It could be better with New year resolution if they improve others’ everyday life (for example the promise do not stress husband during premestrual syndrome).

2018 was an important year for us, one of those years happening once in lifetime. Then it is not a good idea to talk about review. I would like to write about what I want to leave in 2018 and what I want to bring in 2019; it’s kind of a check list for us.

We leave all worries, “but” and schedules. In 2018 we learnt to take it easy. And we would bring this no-schedule way of life in 2019 as well.

Last year we left Italy but we found thousand shades in new languages, colours, traditions and food. Italy stays in our hearts and a little bit even in our luggage with Parmesan and salami.

We would bring in 2019 the Indonesian “belum” philosophy: belum or “not yet” in bahasa. Belum for everything, even if it is impossible to realise or with few chances, because you can’t know your future and maybe, tomorrow…

In the new year we want to stay together, mom dad and Leo, and we promise to spend more time hugging on the sofa or in the bed. And, talking of that, we bring a question with no answer: how a 2 years and half boy could occupy the whole bed, a king size bed as big as Captain Tsubasa’s – Holly and Benji – football pitch?

In 2019 we want to travel more and explore new places. New tastes. New colours. And we look at our little boy growing up with the same desire to explore. We hope he could bring it in his heart in the future, hoping he will never get bored to know people and places so different.

In 2018 we leave all negative people, those with sad and bored eyes. Those cannot think nothing but themselves, with a closed heart. We hope to avoid this kind of people in 2019 as well, because live is too short to depress.

And what about New Year’s resolutions? You know, it is just a list of “loose weight” and “going to the gym” that will never be accomplished. Neither with belum philosophy.
